A Shopify merchant comparing Forthcast and LineNow needs to decide whether a low-stock shop requires a supplier purchase or a transfer from the warehouse. Start with that decision, then follow any new order through its supplier confirmation and delivery.
We make LineNow. This comparison uses linked vendor documentation and an illustrative buying scenario.
What Forthcast documents
Forthcast describes Shopify demand forecasting, stockout-risk ranking and draft purchase orders that the merchant reviews before sending. Its site distinguishes inventory visibility by location from store-wide forecasts and reorder points. It currently advertises flat catalog pricing; older descriptions of Shopify-plan-based pricing should not be relied on. See the primary source.
A store-wide recommendation may be sufficient for a business receiving into one warehouse. A retailer replenishing several shops also needs to know whether it should buy more stock or transfer stock it already owns. Verify that distinction in the actual workflow, rather than treating every low-stock alert as a supplier purchase.
Test a transfer before committing more cash
In an illustrative two-location business, one shop has 10 units and needs 40 for the next period. The warehouse holds 80 units, of which 20 are already reserved. A transfer of 30 could cover the shop's need without a new supplier purchase if transport time and the warehouse's remaining demand allow it.
Run that example through the demo. Identify whether the recommendation is store-wide or location-specific, which reservations are subtracted and where the transfer is recorded. Then introduce a seasonal promotion at only one shop and check how the buyer changes the plan.
For any supplier order that remains necessary, separate cash timing from expected consumption: an advance payment this month is a cash event even if the goods sell next month. Ask how payment terms, deposits and late arrivals are represented. These are evaluation requirements, not claims that either product provides a complete financial forecast.
What to demonstrate in LineNow
In a LineNow Shopify purchasing demo, review the shop’s 30-unit shortfall against the warehouse’s 60 unreserved units. If a timely transfer is appropriate, ask the operator to show 40 units at the shop and 50 at the warehouse after the move, with 20 of the warehouse units still reserved.
For a supplier purchase that remains necessary, follow the accepted quantity, delivery date and deposit terms on the living purchase order. Demonstrate how transfer decisions and supplier arrivals affect the next buying review, including any manual planning steps.
Choose from the operating evidence
Forthcast is worth evaluating for Shopify planning with merchant-reviewed PO drafts. Include LineNow when supplier follow-up and receiving are part of the same buying job. Obtain current written terms and demonstrate the location model before deciding; neither an AI label nor a flat price proves the workflow is sufficient.
Have the buyer resolve the shop shortage before creating a new supplier PO. Compare the location view, reservation inputs and effort needed to evaluate a transfer. Forthcast documents store-wide forecasts and reorder points, so demonstrate the additional process needed for local promotions and allocation.
