Auto Purchase Orders and LineNow both belong on a Shopify purchasing shortlist when supplier orders need automation. Auto Purchase Orders documents dropship POs generated from Shopify orders, splitting an order across suppliers, combining customer orders into supplier POs, inventory receiving and accounting connections. Review the current Shopify listing for plan and integration details.
We make LineNow. This comparison separates two jobs: replenishing stock you hold, and asking your own supplier to fulfill a customer order. Use the job you actually perform to define the trial.
Job one: replenish your warehouse
A warehouse purchase starts from a buying decision. The team needs to know what to reorder, which supplier and pack to use, and what is already due. In LineNow’s Shopify purchasing workflow, supplier confirmations and changed costs become reviewable updates attached to the order. Receiving records actual quantities through the configured item and location mappings.
For Auto Purchase Orders, test the order-generation triggers, supplier records, inventory receiving and accounting features relevant to your plan. Then compare how both tools handle a supplier who changes the quantity or splits a shipment. Do not assume “PO automation” means the same sequence in every application.
Job two: route a customer order to a supplier
A dropship purchase starts with the customer promise. Consider an illustrative order containing equipment from two suppliers, with a custom size or finish selection on one line.
Before placing that order, check:
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Supplier assignment | Each supplier must receive only the items it is responsible for |
| Custom selections | The correct SKU alone may not describe the product the customer bought |
| Ship-to information | The purchase must go to the customer or agreed fulfillment destination |
| Shipping documents | Labels or instructions may need to travel with the supplier order |
| Partial shipment status | A shipment from one supplier does not mean the whole customer order is complete |
| Cancellation or change | Someone must know whether the supplier has already accepted or shipped the order |
Ask both products to demonstrate these details with your actual configuration. Shopify fulfillment locations, supplier mappings and any custom fields must be checked during setup.
The Living Fit case study describes how LineNow routes supplier orders with custom form information and keeps communication and invoice review together. The story documents one customer’s workflow; it is not a head-to-head trial.
The work after routing
A successful trigger is the beginning of the supplier workflow. Test an out-of-stock reply, a revised ETA and an invoice that includes a changed quantity. In LineNow, the buyer can inspect supported supplier email updates beside the purchase record and review the consequence before receiving or accounting acts on it.
Auto Purchase Orders also documents packing slips, Shopify metafields and customizable PO templates. Use those features in the same custom-order trial, then ask the operator to resolve the out-of-stock reply and partial shipment. Compare the completed customer and supplier records after the exception.
Evaluate the appropriate LineNow path
Use Shopify purchase order software for stocked ecommerce purchasing and dropship supplier routing for suppliers fulfilling customer orders. A mixed business should test both flows. Verify current LineNow pricing, setup requirements and the other vendor’s plan limits against your actual usage.
Connecting systems should not create duplicate stock receipts or bills. Agree which application creates each record and test one completed supplier cycle before extending automation across the catalog.
